If you’ve come to this article as a novice or out of curiosity as to what an Anime bar is, then let me explain for you briefly before I send you out there to the best Anime bars in Houston.

Anime is a niche form of Japanese-inspired cartoon, and in very recent years, it has become increasingly popular, especially with the younger generation of adults.

Where to Find Anime Bars in And Around Houston, TX

During this guide to the best anime bars in Houston, you will find that some are slightly outside the city. This is because it is such a specified calling that they tend to be few and far between.

Also, I believe that it is only in very recent years that Anime has become such a popular topic. This topic seems to be adored more by older students and adults in their early to mid-twenties, so who knows, maybe over the next few years, we will see an increasing number of Anime bars throughout the U.S.

I have been researching in detail each of the best Anime bars in Houston and finding out what they offer.

I have looked at menus, explored their entertainment offerings, kept an eye on pricing, and checked out their happy hour. After all, this is a niche popular with students, and we all know what most students are looking for regarding the budget.

So, let’s find out where to find the best Anime bars in Houston.

Space Cowboy is a great themed bar with great throws toward the Anime niche, such as the decor, lighting, and pictures on the walls.

One thing you can bet your money on when visiting this bar is that you’re going to have a memorable experience. The space inside is brightly colored, and there is something new to see in every corner of the rooms. There are also some awesome spots if you’re looking for a new photo for Instagram.

If you’re looking for strong drinks for a great price, then you’re in luck; this place has just that. They also have fish bowls on the drinks menu, which seem to be popular with the younger crowd.

For anyone under the age of 21, there is plenty of choice regarding non-alcoholic drinks.

The music seems to be mainly old-school techno at the weekends. However, I haven’t been on a weeknight, so I am presuming this changes depending on the time you visit.

There is a pleasant patio area outside, with a turfed floor and ample seating should you want to sit outside on a warmer night.

Regarding the food, I judged it to be average in price and taste; it was nothing I would write home about, but I would opt to eat there again if I was visiting. On the menu, there are items such as shrimp tacos, crispy tots, wraps, corn on the cob, and chicken wings in a choice of flavors. Most of the main courses were priced between $10.00 and $15.00. However, six wings only cost $8.00.

The Anime Bar is a brand new experience and has only recently opened to the public, aiming its services at Anime fans and cosplay.

If you’re looking for a night out that will be entirely themed around the Anime topic, then this bar in Sugar Land is the place to be. Everything is Anime themed here, from the drinks to the decor, to the themed event nights; this is a bar for those hardcore fans.

There is an interesting cocktail menu consisting of themed drinks such as The Depths of The Ocean, The Limit Breakin’ Supa Saiyan, and the Set Your Heart Ablaze. The drinks are probably a little too expensive for some people, but it’s only what I expected for a themed bar. For example, the cocktails were all $15.00, and the beers were between $7.00 and $12.00.

Be sure to check out their Facebook page for all the upcoming events, such as karaoke nights and car meets.

Manga on Main is a pop-up event that changes themes on a regular basis, and it’s not as such a late-night bar for partying as it is a place for families and fans to meet, gather and enjoy their favorite topics, whether that’s Superheros or Anime. So bear in mind that before you visit, there will likely be many kids on the scene.

The team here worked hard to create a magical-themed atmosphere and included activities such as games, quizzes, bingo, and photo opportunities with some of the characters.

There is a bar servicing soft and alcoholic drinks and a small food menu with items such as burgers, nachos, and chicken tenders.

Happy Hour
Opening TimesFriday & Saturday: 9:00 pm - 2:00 am

Zenaku is the ultimate bar for Anime fans, from the decor to the dancing to the artwork.

The atmosphere this bar creates is like no other and makes for a totally unique night out.

Now, don’t get me wrong, before I visited this place in person, I had seen a couple of videos on social media, and I was expecting it to be all about the theme and a place where people head for the novelty. I wasn’t wrong. This bar is definitely more style over substance, and it’s not somewhere you’re likely to frequent. However, for any Anime fans, it’s still somewhere you simply have to visit, even if it’s just to update your insta.

The decor inside is impressive; there are screens all over the walls playing various Anime themes. And the menus are lit up in a funky style on the bar, showing off their Anime themed drinks, such as the Demon Slayer and the Afro Samurai.

Another thing I must mention is this place does not fall underneath my topic of “budget bars.” In fact, it’s pretty expensive, but then again, you’re paying for the novelty. I don’t think it’s somewhere you’ll be spending the entire night, so it’s not so bad if you’re calling for a photo and a single drink. The drinks are around $15.00 each.

Upstairs, things get a little darker, and you’re greeted with a lot of Anime characters being held in compromising positions by demons; not really my thing, so I didn’t hang around, but each to their own, I guess.

The music seemed to be pretty standard. I heard top 40’s tunes being played, and I didn’t hear much music linked to the Anime theme. However, I wasn’t here for the longest time, so I can’t say whether this is always the case.

Summary

There might not be too many bars themed around the Anime niche at the moment. However, as I mentioned earlier, this is because it’s a relatively new thing to the U.S., and I think a lot of people are still becoming aware of it.

I believe that is a topic we will see creeping into more and more areas over the next few years as it seems to be becoming increasingly popular. Now you know where the Anime bars are hiding in Houston, why don’t you check out some other great places to go for a drink in the city, such as 7 of The Oldest Yet Operational Bars in Houston, TX, and 9 of The Best After-Hours Clubs in Houston, TX.
