9 of The Best After-Hours Clubs in Houston, TX

We’ve all been there, having a great night out on the town, when suddenly the evening starts coming to a close, and you’re just not ready to go home yet.

This has happened to me on more than one occasion, so I decided to check out some of the best nightclubs in Houston, which are open after hours.

Best After Hours Club Houston

I have been researching some of the best nightclubs in and around Houston, open past the standard closing time. So, when you and your friends get kicked out of your local bar, you’ll know exactly where to head to continue the party.

So, let’s find out where the party’s at in Houston after hours.

1. Etro Nightclub

Etro Nightclub is a small venue located on Main St, Houston, which is open a bit later than your average bar or club.

If you love 80s music, this is the perfect spot to end your evening with some great tunes and a good sing-along, as they host an 80s night every weekend. It is great fun and attracts many customers, old and new.

Besides the 80s music, they are also known for playing music such as disco, EDM, and Electro. So there is an excellent variety no matter what your music taste is.

They also host some fabulous events, such as dance nights and tribute nights, where they have bands playing music from the likes of The Smiths and the Cult, amongst many others.

The club itself is only small, but there is plenty of seating and a good-sized dance floor, as well as two lounges, one upstairs and one downstairs, and they also have a generous-sized patio area that is undercover.

The general vibe here is laid back, and the clientele and staff come across as welcoming and friendly. It’s certainly somewhere that you can go and expect to make new friends.

The club is open only from Thursday to Sunday and opens at 9:00 pm.

2. Cloud 9 No Stress

Address10400 Harwin Drive, Houston, TX 77036
Closing Time5:00 am
Websitewww.facebook.com/cloud9nostress

Cloud 9 No Stress is one of Houston’s most popular joints to head to after hours, mainly because of its super late closing time of 5:00 am. This is the place to be if you’re looking for somewhere to end your night (or morning).

The club is packed and pumping if you arrive here at about 2:00 am, with like-minded customers looking to party the night away.

Another great thing about this nightclub is that no matter what time you go, food is always available, so perfect if you want something to soak up the night’s drinks before round 2. There are vendors serving up food like shrimp kabobs, fried rice, and beef suya.

One downside is that if any of your party is driving, there is quite a high parking fee of $20.00. Still, if you don’t want to pay the fee, you can park in a small park area around the corner of the building.

It doesn’t look the safest of places, but there are often police on the premises. If that helps to put your mind at rest, I’d recommend paying the fee for the parking lot.

3. South Beach

Websitewww.southbeachnightclub.com

South Beach Nightclub is situated right in the heart of Montrose, Houston, and it’s one of my favorites when looking for something that stands out from the rest.

The kind of music they play is mainly techno, which isn’t usually my vibe. Still, the club’s general vibe, the special events, and the spectacles they host make up for it.

One of their main features, which people flock here for every week, is the fantastic light show they put on. They have a state-of-the-art, multi-colored laser machine, which I haven’t seen in many other places.

The lasers move in time with the music and project stunning light shows, which make for a unique experience.

Once the party gets started here, it gets crowded, so you have to be prepared to share the dancefloor in very close proximity to the other wildcats.

Still, one bonus is they have liquid ice jets, which occasionally spray across the dancefloor, reducing the temperature massively and making the whole dancing experience much more pleasant.

Bear in mind, ladies, that this is a gay club, so if you’re out on the town looking for your following Prince Charming, you might want to move on somewhere else.

They also host some fantastic drag shows, perfect for your next girls’ night or bachelorette party.

Whether you’re going here for the shows, the lights, the music, or the great atmosphere, one thing that is guaranteed is that you will have a unique and memorable experience.

4. Nettbar

Websitewww.NettBarHouston.com

Nettbar is a whole new concept of after-hour bars, which includes activities such as gaming, sports, and theme nights.

The bar has been running since 2017 and has established itself as one of Houston’s friendliest, fun late-night gathering spots.

Although you may think a late-night gaming joint might be packed full of tweenies and lairy louts, you’ll be pleasantly surprised to find that is not the case.

There is a mixed age range here, and the vibe is relaxed. They’re also dog-friendly, a bonus for late-night dog walkers wanting to take a spontaneous turn for the night.

Regarding gaming, they have indoor and outdoor facilities where you can engage in sports such as air hockey, ping-pong, bocce ball, and Jenga. They also host theme nights and often show live sports for you to enjoy at the bar or in the garden.

The drinks are cheap here, and although they don’t serve food at the bar, they have food vendors outside, serving food day and night.

5. Dirt Bar

Websitewww.dirtbar.com

This is always one place that springs to mind when I think about after-hours bars in Houston. I think that’s because when I hear “Dirt Bar,” I automatically think about a back street dive bar open all hours. Well, that’s kind of what Dirt Bar is, although the name is slightly deceiving because once inside, it doesn’t feel like a dive bar.

The decor is dark inside, but not in a dingy way. Instead, it feels gothic, cool, and trendy, and not the kind of place you can expect to find a creepy fella lurking in the corner all night. In some ways, it feels like it has a sort of dungeon theme, which is probably why I like it so much; it’s right up my street.

It’s not your typical kind of music-pumping nightclub. While they have music playing through the night, it’s not so loud that you can’t have a conversation, so if you want somewhere to enjoy the rest of your night with your friends without dancing the night away, this is a great place to end up.

Closing Time3:00 am
Websitewww.facebook.com/BarbarellaHTX

Barbarella Houston is a brilliant little video dance and dive bar that is a staple in Houston regarding nightlife.

They are open from 9:30 pm, Thursday to Saturday, and each night host a variety of theme nights, so if you’re a lover of the 80s and 90s, and let’s face it, who isn’t?

Then this is a great place to go after hours to reminisce about some great music. You’ll undoubtedly get your steps in for the day here after you’ve finished dancing the night away.

The atmosphere here is so vibrant and fun, and the customers are diverse, young and old, so you are always sure to meet some great people.

One downside, once again, is the parking situation, because of where the club is located, the parking can get a little hectic, so I would suggest booking a cab to take you here, or parking elsewhere and walking.

They also have a great upstairs patio if you want to end your evening outdoors.

Mony’s Pizza is also close if you’re feeling a little peckish.

Club New Ice is an upbeat, trendy spot for after-hours dancing if you enjoy the afro-centric vibes. It has recently been named one of Houston’s most up-and-coming nightclubs.

One thing that this club guarantee is a memorable experience, whether because of the cultural vibes, the feeling of euphoria when you step inside, or the great DJs.

They also have a state-of-the-art lighting and sound system, adding to the modern vibes and show-stopping environment.

It does have a slightly more up-market feel to it inside, but that’s by no means a bad thing. It’s welcoming, relaxed, and friendly, without the feeling you usually get from a late-night club.

They also have Hookah and Suya available, offering something different to finish your night if that piques your interest.

Another bonus with this place is that the parking is free, and if you visit on a Sunday, there is no entry fee, so you don’t have to worry about your budget. The drinks aren’t overly expensive either.

This lively, late-night bar offers so much more than somewhere to go for a drink after hours. There are all kinds of attractions, which makes it a popular go-to for anyone wanting to continue their antics.

As well as an excellent sound system and fantastic light show, they also offer an overall exciting experience until the early hours.

They have some great cocktails on the menu, 25 craft beers, and of course, the famous late-night choice of most, lots of shots!

The club gets rather busy, especially late on a Friday and Saturday night, so be prepared to squeeze onto the dance floor with other party-hungry visitors.

They have VIP offers too, so if you’re looking for somewhere to head for a birthday party or other special event, give them a call and reserve your table for the night and receive bottle service, waiting on staff, sparkler shows, and loads more on tap all night.

This speakeasy-inspired, late-night bar is situated in the heart of Houston, right in the midst of the nightlife scene, where the parties happen.

It’s quite an upscale place with a classy feel yes doesn’t make you uncomfortable. They have a cozy lounge area and a 2,000-square-foot patio area, which is great for sitting outside and enjoying the fresh air at night’s end.

They have a great selection of hand-crafted cocktails, an excellent wine list, and a great choice of spirits.

In relation to late-night clubs and dive bars, this is higher on the scale when it comes to prices. So perhaps one you should save for a special occasion.
