1. The Pit Room
Address | 1201 Richmond Ave, Houston, TX 77006 |
Website | www.thepitroombbq.com |
Food | Beef, ribs, mac & cheese, bbq, pulled pork, charro beans |
Our recommendation | 1lb Brisket |
The Pit Room is a BBQ-style meat grill restaurant serving a delicious selection of meat cuts cooked your way to order. Everything is made from scratch, in-house, so you know that everything you’re eating is good clean food.
They are open 7 days a week, serving breakfast tacos from 7:00 am till 10:30 am, and then serving their famous BBQ from 11:00 am to 9:00 pm.
In 2013 they made a list for the top 50 BBQ joints in the whole of Texas, and they’ve continued to improve and grow ever since.
On the menu, you will find a great selection of meats, as well as the Brisket you came here for. The brisket beef comes in two sizes, you can opt for the smaller one at 1/2lbs for $12.00 or the total lbs for $24.00, so depending on your appetite and budget, you can pick which one suits you best. There was plenty of meat on the Brisket, and it was cooked beautifully.
They also have a modern patio area, which came later. Here you’ll find Happy Hour, Monday-Friday between 2:00 pm and 7:00 pm, where you can get some great deals, and crawfish weekends, Friday, Saturday, and Sunday.

2. The Brisket House
Address | 5775 Woodway Dr, Houston, TX 77057 |
Website | www.thebriskethouse.com |
Food | St Louis pork ribs, chicken, pulled pork, Brisket, beef ribs |
Our recommendation: | The Brisket Sandwich |
Established in 2010, The Brisket House now runs over three separate locations, one in Deer Park, another on Cypress Creek, Houston, and the one we visited for our research, on Woodway.
Their Prime Brisket is smoked oak-smoked every night for 12-14 hours using their unique blend of spices. It has a great flavor; it’s juicy and melts in your mouth.
Their sauces are homemade and are made fresh, in-house, daily. Regarding pricing, they are very reasonable, and all their meats are sold by ½ lbs. The Brisket itself is only $12. And you got plenty for your money. The Brisket Sandwich, priced at $9.25, was also excellent, there was still loads of meat, and it also came with a side of chips and a drink for an extra $3.00.
It also comes highly recommended to try their homemade cornbread and banana pudding.
3. Pinkertons BBQ
Address | 1504 Airline Dr, Houston, TX 77009 |
Website | www.pinkertonsbbq.com |
Food | Pork ribs, smoked sausage, prime beef, blueberry cobbler |
Our recommendation | Brisket with your choice of sides |
Pinkertons BBQ started out as a BBQ pit and has become one of Texas’s best and most famous barbeque joints.
The chef here prides himself on food quality, and everything they sell is made daily, from scratch, using family recipes, and some new original dishes thought up by the chef himself.
In 2019 they were proud to accept the winning award for Memphis in May Beef Grand Champion in 2019. Pinkerton’s Barbecue has also been featured numerous times on the Travel Channel, Food Network, and Cooking Channel.
Their mouth-watering Brisket was, by far, one of the best we had ever tasted, priced at $30.00 for lbs, it is slightly higher than our previous two restaurants, but the quality reflects the price tag.
There are 6 sides to choose from; we recommend getting the jalapeno cheese rice and south texas beans.
There is also a dessert menu with a choice of three delicious desserts.
4. Pappas Bros. Steakhouse
Address | 1200 McKinney Street, Houston, TX 77010 |
Website | www.pappasbros.com |
Food | Fine dining, set menus, seafood, bone-in beef |
Our recommendation | Five Course Set Menu |
Pappas Bros. Steakhouse is a family-run restaurant. They take great pride in their family history, which can be felt within the restaurant’s atmosphere and seen in the decor.
The staff here are very friendly and welcoming, and you can tell that they take pride in their work and aim to give all their customers a personal experience, which makes the whole feel of your visit a little bit more special.
Another thing that makes Pappas Bros. so unique is that they own, employ, operate and make everything themselves, down to the electricians who keep their lighting going and the truck drivers who deliver the fresh meat daily.
They also appeared on Food Network as one of the top steakhouses in the whole of America.
The brisket dish here is available on their set menu and in the form of a boudain, served with a brussel sprout salad. This menu is priced at $105.00 per person, and you get to enjoy another 4 mouth-watering dishes, including a beautiful dessert. If, however, anyone you’re dining with doesn’t want to splurge out on the 5-course menu, there are plenty of other dishes to choose from, but they do all come with a pretty high price tag compared to other venues in our guide. However, you won’t regret splashing out.
5. B&B Butchers and Restaurant
Address | 1814 Washington Ave, Houston, TX 77007 |
Website | www.bbbutchers.com |
Food | Pizza, homemade bread, homemade pastries, omelet, steak and eggs, scotch eggs |
Our recommendation | Scotch eggs and Brisket Ravioli |
B&B Butchers and restaurant is an award-winning steakhouse and traditional butcher shop. They specialize in highly high-quality meats and excellent quality service.
They also serve some of the finest Texas and Japanese Wagyu Beef and dry-aged Prime beef, smoked in-house and hand-cut in their butcher’s shop.
Both of their locations are in two, of only 29 US restaurants officially certified by the “Kobe Beef Association in Japan, offering authentic meat from A5 certified Kobe beef from Tajima cattle, which is one of the reasons they are so famous in the Texas area.
The brisket dish we had here was the Brisket Ravioli, and you can count on the fact this isn’t any regular ravioli dish. It was packed full of flavor and so moreish. You don’t want to be sharing this dish; it comes with a pork belly stuffing and a mushroom marsala ragu sauce.
You also want to be sure to try the scotch eggs and the corned beef Reuben.
The prices here are more high-end. The Brisket Ravioli will set you back $28.00, but for the reasons explained above, you know you’re paying for a very high-quality product.
The service we received here was of an excellent standard, and you felt like the staff couldn’t do enough for you. The restaurant itself offers an authentic, homely atmosphere.
6. Gatlin’s BBQ
Address | 3510 Ella Blvd, Houston, TX 77018 |
Website | www.gatlinsbbq.com |
Food | Pulled pork, sandwiches, turkey, sausages, mac & cheese, smoked bologna |
Our recommendation | Brisket plate with a choice of sides |
Gatlin’s BBQ is a family-operated restaurant serving up authentic Southern BBQ. Established in 2010, it soon became the famous hidden gem today. As they grew, they moved to their current location in Oak Forest. Despite the surroundings changing, the same pride and love go into their food and service as it always did, and Gatlin’s is now considered the “go-to” place for BBQ in Houston.
The Brisket can be ordered in a few different ways, for example, by the lb, as a sandwich, salad, a plate with sides, or on your loaded fries. These three options are priced between $12.95 and $24.95. The Brisket is succulent, flavorsome, and falls apart as it should. The sandwich was a great size and served on freshly made bread; the plate filled with dirty rice and smoked corn was excellent.
There are plenty of other choices for anyone you’re dining with who may not want to go for the brisket options too.
7. Goode Company
The Goode Company originally started serving good old-fashioned BBQ from an old barn-style eatery, which they then transformed. The owners would sleep beside the Brisket, protecting it through the night, and by day would go out onto the road, loaded with sandwiches and inviting passers-by to dine in.
Word soon spread, and so did the smell of the mesquite, grown outside the restaurant and used daily to smoke the meat. Soon people were flocking here, and it soon became one of the most famous smokehouses in Texas.
Their recipes are passed down and based on “Goode” old family memories. Making them entirely unique and meaning you get an experience like no other whenever you visit here.
Of course, there is the Brisket on the menu here, you can have served as either a plate, served with fresh jalapeno cheese bread, as a Po-boy, or as a BBQ dinner, which is served with a choice of cheesy jalapeno bread and two sides, or sub loaded baked potato. (We recommend the one with the two sides and bread)
On average, you should expect to spend around $15.00 on the main course.

Here at Brookstreet BBQ, you will find everything you expect and more; from a classic BBQ joint, the staff and chefs know everything there is to know about smoking and good quality foods.
They pride themselves on providing “top-notch” customer service, which is experienced throughout your visit here.
The portion sizes were super large. We opted for the two-meat combinations, where you select two of your own size. The brisket beef was beautiful. The sides were also delicious. The potato salad, in particular, was fresh, full of fresh herbs, and clearly homemade.
If you’re looking for something a little lighter than a hefty plate full of meat, you should check out the Brisket Salad.
The prices are average, and you can easily dine here on a smaller budget. The meat combo with two types of meat was also only $15.95.
