If you are looking for a really fun day out in a cool, funky environment, you should check out Momentum Indoor Rock Climbing Silver Street.

This place has a real retro vibe, with colorful walls of all shapes and angles. Out of the 43,000 square feet of the building, 1,100 square feet have been designed specifically for children between the ages of 3-12.

Experienced climbers might enjoy coming here for an easy climb. However, I would say that this place caters better to beginners or families with children.

Momentum has only been in operation since 2017, making it one of the newest climbing gyms in Houston. They have the latest gear, with little wear and tear on the equipment.

This brilliant gym is located in downtown Houston, where there is an abundance of restaurants and places to enjoy a well-earned drink following a climb. One of the closest and most delightful haunts to unwind close by is Buffalo Bayou; their cake alone is worth visiting!

You can find out more about Buffalo Bayou by checking out our article on the best breweries in Houston.

You can’t afford to miss the huge yoga studio and fitness areas. Plus, there is a dedicated area for children to enjoy, with experienced staff who are ever ready to provide tips, check equipment, and generally make sure you are having a great time!

You can rent all the gear required for the day here, with a little shop available on-site, too, where you can purchase anything you might need for future climbs. The gym also has a café which is reasonably priced and has a good selection of food.

Address:403 E Louetta Rd, Spring, TX 77373
Website:https://paparruchosindoor.com/climb
Price:$18 per person - $10 gear rental if required

Paparruchos Indoor Climbing is a great option for anyone looking to try out climbing as part of a sports experience day. The maximum wall height here is 35 feet, which is quite short compared to the other indoor climbing gyms in the area. However, the walls still have challenging aspects of pleasing experienced climbers.

The climbing area at Paparruchos is known as being boutique. This isn’t just because of its compact structure but also because it is constantly being updated to keep the gym exciting to its regular visitors.

This multipurpose gym also includes an indoor soccer field. Time on the field can be tied into your day, which is extremely popular for corporate events and private parties.

5. Space City Rock Climbing

Address:201 Hobbs Rd, League City, TX 77573
Website:https://spacecityrockclimbing.com
Price:$15 per person - $12 gear rental if required

For advanced climbers, Space City Rock Climbing is one of the best options in the Houston area for indoor rock climbing. What sets this place ahead of the rest is its unique arched climbing roof, offering climbers an opportunity to really hone in on their skills on more demanding surfaces.

The highest point at Space City Rock is 25 feet. However, as they have the roof climb too, this compensates for the relatively short wall. This is a superb place for climbers to build confidence before tackling any of the great outdoor climbs around the Houston area.

Compared to many of the other indoor rock climbing gyms in the area, Space Rock isn’t quite as pleasing to the senses. This is a place for serious climbers, emphasizing learning new techniques and skills, rather than a family fun day out. As a result, space Rock looks (and smells) like a traditional gym.

Tonkawa Falls is totally worth the 3.5 hours drive from Houston. This sanctuary is a haven of wide-open, peaceful, and gloriously picturesque landscape. The area is often overshadowed by the better known Enchanted Rock, which climbers flock to due to its fame amongst the climbing community, leaving Tonkawa falls a pleasingly quiet Eden to enjoy.

This site is suitable for more advanced climbers, as there are some steep boulders that can prove difficult for beginners to master. The pocketed limestone is thoroughly enjoyable to climb, with some really interesting areas to explore along the boulders.

This area is quite secluded, so for the safest climb, it is best avoided during the summer months due to the heat. Tonkawa Falls is a magical place to visit in spring.
