1. Olde Dobbin Station

Olde Dobbin Station is located in Montgomery, just short of an hour’s drive from Houston. This venue offers a unique selection of buildings that have been used for multiple purposes over the last hundred years. The chapel has recently been lovingly renovated, with much of its vintage charm preserved.
The venue currently has the choice of the traditional chapel or the beautiful gardens for wedding ceremonies. The reception will be held within the McCoy Station building, which includes a PA system. The bride and groom also have their own buildings to get ready in.
You are welcome to use outside caterers at Olde Dobbin Station and outside florists and decorators, which are to be pre-approved by the venue 30-days in advance of the big day. All alcohol must be purchased on-site, and drinks packages can be personalized to suit your needs.
2. Houston Museum of Natural Science

A wedding at the Houston Museum of Natural Science will undoubtedly make for a memorable guest experience and allow the happy couple to be treated like VIPs during their event. What could be unique than celebrating the biggest day of your life surrounded by glistening geodes and the glorious history of our world?
There is a choice of three spaces to hold your wedding ceremony, the most exciting of the three being the T Rex atrium. You can decide to keep your reception in the same area as the ceremony or move to another wonderfully inspirational space. There are conference rooms available for the bride and groom to get ready.
As this is such a distinctive venue, they do not allow outside catering companies, alcohol, or extravagant decoration. The venue has its own teams that you can work with to tailor your experience.
3. The Astorian

The Astorian is one of Houston’s most stunning wedding venues, on the inside anyway. The Houston Historical Society redesigned this converted warehouse loft to mirror Grand Central station in New York, with a 1920’s ambiance. The ebony wooden paneling, contrasting with the floor-to-ceiling windows, showcases a luxuriously glamorous space.
The ceremony and reception are both held within the grand ballroom. Additional spaces such as The Lexington Lounge and The Soho Suite can be added to your package as spaces for the bride and groom to get ready or to use as additional areas for guests to relax during the day.
The Astorian has a team of caterers and does not allow you to hire external vendors. All alcohol must also be purchased on-site. There are a few rules around what décor you can bring with you to dress the venue, items such as glitter, confetti, and anything which can cause damage to the floors or walls are prohibited.
Small Wedding Venues in Houston

1. The Bryan Museum

The Bryan Museum is an exceptional architectural delight that can cater superbly to small weddings, as they do to their capacity of 175. The venue was crafted into an event space in 2013. It was previously an orphanage and took two years of careful renovations to create today’s masterpiece of any event space.
There is a choice of areas which can be used for both the ceremony. You can opt for one of their outdoor spaces, either under a magnificent gazebo or by the fabulous fountain. Alternatively, the indoor offering at The Bryan Museum is within their gorgeous historic conservatory – the conservatory is also where the receptions are held.
All catering is to be provided by the venue’s list of approved caterers. Outside alcohol is not allowed to be brought on-site; drinks packages are available that range from $10-$40 per guest. In addition to the drinks package price, you will also need to pay for bartenders, additional bar set-ups, and special requests for alcohol.
2. Oak Atelier

Oak Atelier is a gloriously intimate space where wedding ceremonies can be performed. The venue began life as a photography studio before expanding into a platform for small events following the owner’s own personal wedding.
There are four studios for you to choose between; each of them is minimalistic, clean, and modern. Furniture can be provided if requested. Only the Adler studio has a space for a bride to get changed.
You can bring in your own food and alcohol to the venue; cleaning deposits will be taken at the time of booking as the studios need to be left in the same condition they were in on your arrival. The venue only allows pink and white flowers to be brought into it; they will not allow red or artificial flowers.
3. Ronin Harrisburg

Ronin Harrisburg is an entirely blank space in Houston where you can create your own unique, dream wedding.
Three spaces within the venue can be used for weddings, the smallest being the Ronin 2. Ronin 2 has a capacity for forty-five seated guests. It has a stunning arched glass entrance with an exposed brick interior, a large patio area, skylights, and a glitzy mirrored bar.
Ronin Harrisburg welcomes outside caterers; however, alcohol must be purchased on-site. There are no areas where the bride and groom can get ready here.

The space available to hire is stunning, with elegantly luxurious features such as a sweeping staircase and dazzling chandeliers. This is a purpose-built events venue with free on-site valet parking, in-house events teams, and a complimentary bridal suite set for photographs.
Everything you need for your big day can be catered for by The Bell Tower on the 34th team. They have professional caterers on-site and will not allow external food or alcohol to be brought in – this venue has extremely competitive beverage packages.
Another unique addition The Bell Tower can add to your wedding package is a hotel shuttle service for your guests.
2. Royal Oaks Country Club

A gorgeous two-hundred-year-old barn can be used for the reception, featuring glistening chandeliers and a vintage bar. There are also rooms within the barn for the bride and groom to get ready.
We really love the flexibility of The Meekermack; they allow outside caterers, alcohol, and décor.
2. Haak Vineyards and Winery

The outdoor chapel is perfect for your ceremony. The chapel was built with love on Gladys & Raymond Haak’s 50th wedding anniversary in 2009 – marrying within this space has to be a good omen! The reception pavilion is set along the edge of the vineyard itself and can be dressed to your liking.
Haak provides all catering and alcohol; the wedding cake can also not be provided by an external company and will be made by the in-house team.
Barn Wedding Venues in Houston
Barn weddings have been a favorite choice for Texans for years, and they have become the top choice for younger couples in recent years who want somewhere charming on a lower budget.

There is the option to have an outdoor ceremony near the lake, or you can choose to have it within the barn along with your reception. A suite is available for the bride to get ready before the wedding.

2. The Bumblebee Ranch

This is a working, female-run ranch with horses on-site which can be available for photographs with the bride and groom. You can decide to have your ceremony and reception indoors or outdoors. Each wedding is treated individually, and bespoke packages can be put together to create the most magical experience.
The Bumblebee ranch provides catering and alcohol. Extras such as popcorn machines, cotton candy machines, and margaritas for the bridal party are included in the packages to add to the day’s fun.
3. The Springs in Magnolia

The Springs in Magnolia is a gorgeous woodland barn nestled in the heart of Magnolia just outside of Houston. This is probably one of the prettiest venues we have included within the guide, with a true fairytale feel to it.
There is the option of an outdoor ceremony here, or you can choose between two indoor barns, both as stunning as each other. Our favorite of the two is the Pinehaven Hall; the simple cast-iron bridge leading to the attractive front is breathtaking. The bride and groom both have their own suites to get ready.
This is another fabulously flexible venue, they allow outside catering from an extensive list of vendors, and they have no hidden costs.
Free Wedding Venues in Houston
Free is not a word you often hear when it comes to planning a wedding; however, we have found a few spots where a wonderful wedding can take place once a DIY makeover has been completed.
1. Chapel Dulcinea

It feels almost criminal that Chapel Dulcinea offers wedding ceremonies for free! This is such a beautiful chapel in Austin, about an hour’s drive from Houston. They have been performing free weddings since 2005; after so many years of free weddings, the chapel has taken the financial decision to now only offer free weddings from Monday-Thursday, with four ceremonies performed per day.
You need to book well in advance to get a spot here, and they graciously accept donations.
Chapel Dulcinea is located a short walk from Tuscan Hall, a dedicated wedding reception venue that offers cost-effective packages from $1495.00.
2. Mary Jo Peckham Park, Katy

Mary Jo Peckham Park is one of the parks near Houston where you can officially get married. You will need to hire someone to officiate the wedding and ask permission to host the wedding in the park, but aside from that, it’s a fantastic free option.
Mary Jo Peckham Park has a beautiful gazebo near the lake, which you can reserve for your ceremony.
There are a handful of cozy restaurants close to the park where you could enjoy an intimate wedding breakfast. Alternatively, a picnic within the park would make for a wonderfully memorable experience.
