Olde Dobbin Station is located in Montgomery, just short of an hour’s drive from Houston. This venue offers a unique selection of buildings that have been used for multiple purposes over the last hundred years. The chapel has recently been lovingly renovated, with much of its vintage charm preserved.

The venue currently has the choice of the traditional chapel or the beautiful gardens for wedding ceremonies. The reception will be held within the McCoy Station building, which includes a PA system. The bride and groom also have their own buildings to get ready in.

You are welcome to use outside caterers at Olde Dobbin Station and outside florists and decorators, which are to be pre-approved by the venue 30-days in advance of the big day. All alcohol must be purchased on-site, and drinks packages can be personalized to suit your needs.

The Astorian is one of Houston’s most stunning wedding venues, on the inside anyway. The Houston Historical Society redesigned this converted warehouse loft to mirror Grand Central station in New York, with a 1920’s ambiance. The ebony wooden paneling, contrasting with the floor-to-ceiling windows, showcases a luxuriously glamorous space.

The ceremony and reception are both held within the grand ballroom. Additional spaces such as The Lexington Lounge and The Soho Suite can be added to your package as spaces for the bride and groom to get ready or to use as additional areas for guests to relax during the day.

The Astorian has a team of caterers and does not allow you to hire external vendors. All alcohol must also be purchased on-site. The Bryan Museum is an exceptional architectural delight that can cater superbly to small weddings, as they do to their capacity of 175. The venue was crafted into an event space in 2013. It was previously an orphanage and took two years of careful renovations to create today’s masterpiece of any event space.

There is a choice of areas which can be used for both the ceremony. You can opt for one of their outdoor spaces, either under a magnificent gazebo or by the fabulous fountain. Alternatively, the indoor offering at The Bryan Museum is within their gorgeous historic conservatory – the conservatory is also where the receptions are held.

All catering is to be provided by the venue’s list of approved caterers. Outside alcohol is not allowed to be brought on-site; drinks packages are available that range from $10-$40 per guest. In addition to the drinks package price, you will also need to pay for bartenders, additional bar set-ups, and special requests for alcohol.

Oak Atelier is a gloriously intimate space where wedding ceremonies can be performed. The venue began life as a photography studio before expanding into a platform for small events following the owner’s own personal wedding.

There are four studios for you to choose between; each of them is minimalistic, clean, and modern. Furniture can be provided if requested. Only the Adler studio has a space for a bride to get changed.

You can bring in your own food and alcohol to the venue; cleaning deposits will be taken at the time of booking as the studios need to be left in the same condition they were in on your arrival. The venue only allows pink and white flowers to be brought into it; they will not allow red or artificial flowers.

The Springs in Magnolia is a gorgeous woodland barn nestled in the heart of Magnolia just outside of Houston. This is probably one of the prettiest venues we have included within the guide, with a true fairytale feel to it.

There is the option of an outdoor ceremony here, or you can choose between two indoor barns, both as stunning as each other. Our favorite of the two is the Pinehaven Hall; the simple cast-iron bridge leading to the attractive front is breathtaking. The bride and groom both have their own suites to get ready.

This is another fabulously flexible venue, they allow outside catering from an extensive list of vendors, and they have no hidden costs.

Free is not a word you often hear when it comes to planning a wedding; however, we have found a few spots where a wonderful wedding can take place once a DIY makeover has been completed.

It feels almost criminal that Chapel Dulcinea offers wedding ceremonies for free! This is such a beautiful chapel in Austin, about an hour’s drive from Houston. They have been performing free weddings since 2005; after so many years of free weddings, the chapel has taken the financial decision to now only offer free weddings from Monday-Thursday, with four ceremonies performed per day.

You need to book well in advance to get a spot here, and they graciously accept donations.

Chapel Dulcinea is located a short walk from Tuscan Hall, a dedicated wedding reception venue that offers cost-effective packages from $1495.00.

Mary Jo Peckham Park has a beautiful gazebo near the lake, which you can reserve for your ceremony.
