5 of The Finest Hotels in Montrose Houston

Montrose is one of Houston’s more unorthodox, eccentric parts, which explains why it’s one of my favorite places to stay in the city.

Sometimes, I’ll go out of my way to find hotels in Montrose, even if I’m visiting friends and family in other parts of Houston. I love everything about it.

So, whether you’re visiting the Rothko Chapel or taking in the awe-inspiring exhibits in the Fine Arts Museum, I’ve compiled a list of the best hotels in the area accessible to all the most famous sights.

5 Best Hotels in Montrose, Houston

I am lucky to have stayed in many hotels and Airbnb in Montrose. The good news is that you must look no further to find your perfect vacation accommodation.

Although I would classify all of these hotels as luxurious, I’ve kept your purse strings in mind by including a great mixture of budget-friendly stays combined with higher-end options.

So, it’s time to get to work planning your next stay in Montrose, Houston.

1. Montrose Guesthouse Suites

Montrose Guesthouse offers a fabulous stay just five minutes walk from my absolute favorite place in Houston, the Downtown Aquarium.

It’s also within walking distance of the Museum District, so no matter what you’re in Montrose for, you’re close to everything you could need.

I found this hotel to be immaculate and well-presented. I visited during covid times, and the restrictions and precautions they had in place were spot on without making it feel too clinical. It was nice to be made to feel like I was on vacation and not to be on trial as to why I was traveling.

The price was reasonable, and the many amenities and a few extras made it even more special.

There are many restaurants in the area should you wish to dine out and many shops, so everything is on your doorstep if you want a chilled-out, stress-free stay.

2. Best Western Plus Downtown Inn & Suites

I am a big fan of Best Western hotels; they’re always consistent in service, have comfortable rooms, and, most importantly, serve amazing food.

Talking of the food, when you stay here, you’ll get to take advantage of being able to enjoy their full complimentary hot breakfast. There’s tons of selection, and it changes every day.

The rooms all have satellite TV, a sofa bed, a coffee maker, and blackout curtains for the perfect, relaxing night’s sleep.

Indulge in the undercover swimming pool, or enjoy the bubbles in the hot tub.

On top of everything the hotel offers, it’s also in the perfect location for exploring everything Montrose offers. It’s also right by Buffalo Bayou trail if you enjoy strolling or cycling.

3. The Sam Hotel, Curio by The Hilton

I remember the first thing that drew me to this hotel. It was when someone told me that it was on the National Register of Historic Places. You should have seen me, I was there like a shot, and I wasn’t even planning a trip to Montrose at the time, so it ended up a kind of spontaneous trip.

I love history, old buildings, museums, and the lot. So, this place was totally up my street in every sense of the word.

This authentic hotel is my top pick out of all of them for many reasons.

The interior of the lobby is impressive and will win you over as soon as you enter.

For such a grand, historic hotel, the rooms here are minimalist, which is alright. I mean, they’re spotlessly clean. However, I was expecting some heavy tapestries and four poster beds.

The hotel is pet friendly, and there is a free shuttle to take you anywhere you need to get to.

4. La Combe D’Or

La Comve D’Or is the most expensive hotel in my guide, but there’s a reason for that.

I promised you luxury, and I’ve delivered on that promise. This hotel is something else, and if you’re looking for somewhere to treat your other half to a special night away, this will tick every box.

There’s a lavish marble interior, and a modern, dark green designed bar, the decor is breathtaking, and it’s like looking at a work of art every time you turn a corner.

The rooms are air-conditioned, with a stunning swimming pool and an onsite restaurant. You can even relax in the spa and eliminate all your worries with a rejuvenating massage.

Despite being such a high-end hotel, they still accept pets, which surprised me, but I’m always pleased to hear this as I love to travel with my pets wherever possible.

5. Hotel ZaZa Houston Museum District

Whether you’re a couple looking for a romantic weekend away in Montrose or somewhere to spend the family vacation, Hotel ZaZa by the Museum District has everything you could need.

The staff here are attentive, the rooms are immaculate, and the food is out of this world. Especially the complimentary breakfast you can choose from every morning.

However, suppose you don’t wish to dine at the hotel. In that case, many restaurants are nearby, such as The Pit Room. You can read more about it in my guide to the best spots for mouthwatering briskets in Houston. It’s my number one pick.

The bar and lounge area in the hotel is cozy and open till late in the afternoon if you’d like to end the evening with a nightcap (they have a great selection of brandy if that interests you).

If you wake up feeling energetic, be sure to speak to the staff about the bicycle rental service they offer. There are some great spots for biking nearby and great walking trails if you want to go on foot.

To Conclude

As you can see, the availability of many unique places to stay in Montrose will make your trip even more memorable.

Whether traveling with the kids, your better half, or your four-legged friend, you’ll always find a place to bed and indulge in luxury.
