17 Best Pets-Friendly Hotels in Houston, Texas

If you’ve read any of my other Houston guides, you’ve probably noticed by now that I spend a lot of my time traveling through Houston, whether it’s for work, visiting family, or simply exploring part of the city I love.

On many occasions, I have been visiting Houston with my dog. I hate leaving him behind, so whenever the chance arrives, he accompanies me on my trips, so I have had to trawl through a lot of hotels that allow pets in Houston to find the best ones.

As you can probably imagine, I have sieved through my fair share of not-so-great hotels that allow pets. Some of them seem to think that just because they’re pet-friendly, it means they can lack in standards.

So, to save other people from having the same displeasurable experiences that I’ve had, I have put together this guide to the best hotels that accept pets in Houston. It includes all my favorite spots when I’ve had a pleasing visit.

Best Pets-Friendly Hotels in Houston – The Experiment

Throughout this guide, I will tell you all about each hotel, including the food they serve, the location they’re set in, and what onsite facilities they have.

I have also mentioned whether or not they offer pets any special added extras and given you a bit of insight into my personal experience at each one.

Lastly, I have made a note of the price. This is the price per night at the time I have written this guide, so please allow for changes depending on time, room choice, and duration. Also, some of them may occasionally charge extra fees for pets, so if you’re unsure, be sure to use the information I’ve provided to contact the hotel directly for your quote.

Homewood Suites by Hilton Houston is about 25 miles away from Houston Intercontinental Airport. It’s also right across the street from the Galleria, one of Houston’s biggest and most popular shopping malls.

I visited this hotel twice, once before the renovation in 2018 and once since, and I have to say it was money well spent. It was already a great hotel before, but the work they had done previously really gave it a revamp and bought it up to par with some of the more modern hotels in the area.

They provide an excellent freshly cooked breakfast, as well as a breakfast buffet with plenty of selection for you to build your breakfast. If you don’t want to be rushed out of bed in the morning, then you also have the option to stay in your room for breakfast, as each room is fitted with a stylish kitchenette with plenty of appliances.

The rooms also have flatscreen TVs, air-con, a fireplace, a seating area, and extremely comfortable beds.

If you fancy a bite to eat nearby, the Capital Grille is a fabulous spot for classic American food.

There is a fee to take your pets, which the last time I stayed here was $75.00. I believe this was a flat fee, no matter your duration.

I am always more than satisfied with my stay at this hotel. It offers just about everything you want from a hotel visit: comfort, relaxation, welcoming staff, and many amenities.

The rooms are beautifully designed, with good taste and style, which makes it feel a little more unique to other hotels in Houston that allow pets.

All the rooms have their kitchenette, with a microwave, dishwasher, oven, stove, and refrigerator, and they also have a cozy workspace, a little home-from-home all in one place.

There is an enclosed private pool area with deck chairs and a modern restaurant/cafeteria to enjoy breakfast and coffee.

This hotel ticks all the boxes if you enjoy a bit of sophistication while still relaxing in a laid-back, casual atmosphere. Despite being one of Houston’s only AAA Four Diamond hotels, this hotel doesn’t have that formal, upper-class feel that can make some people uncomfortable when wanting to indulge in a bit of luxury.

The hotel is situated in an Uptown neighborhood, within walking distance of the Galleria, which is fabulous if you want to enjoy a spot of shopping or indoor ice skating.

There are almost 500 rooms at this impressive hotel, and I was quite surprised when I first learned that it allowed pets. I couldn’t wait for my next Houston trip so I could stay here, and I was bowled over when I arrived.

The onsite restaurant serves some beautiful, classic dishes should you want to treat yourself to a bit of fine dining. Other options for food include the Grotto Restaurant, just five minutes from the hotel, which serves some flavorsome, authentic Italian food.

There is a fee for allowing pets, which varies depending on the pet and the duration of your stay.

One of the things that always stands out to me about this hotel is how courteous and enthusiastic the staff are, always with a smile on their face and always on hand to help with anything you require.

Located in Downtown Houston, there is a lot to see and do within the vicinity of this hotel, such as Minute Maid Park and Brazos Bend State Park, which is perfect for walking the dog.

One of my favorite bars in Houston is just down the street for a tipple and a sing-song, Pete’s Duelling Piano Bar. I highly recommend this for a great night out; it’s always a memorable and great laugh.

If you’re a bit of a foodie like me who wants to try as much food as possible on vacation, then be sure to check out Phoenicia Specialty Foods! You will LOVE it!

The hotel is also close to Houston Airport, so this spot is ideal if you’re trying to avoid a long commute with your pet after a flight.

If you’re looking for a great deal and something that is excellent value for money, then Home2 Suites by Hilton is a good place to start, and don’t be fooled just because this is a low-end hotel when it comes to stars and price. You still receive high-class service and a comfortable stay.

The hotel is pet, and child-friendly, so it’s the perfect destination for a family vacation. There are plenty of activities that take place at the hotel, such as evening entertainment and a swimming pool, and even better is the fact that kids stay for free, so you’re immediately cutting your costs right now.

If you’re looking for something fun to do nearby, I would highly suggest taking a nosey around the Houston Military Museum and Commemorative Air Force, where you can learn some fascinating information and take a walk around the hangar.

Overall, for less than $100 per night, there isn’t anything negative I can say about this hotel, certainly not from my personal experience, and the dog didn’t have a bad word to say either!

Let’s say you’ve got a pampered pooch (not at all like my old boy), who can be trusted to behave in an upmarket hotel, and you want to splash out on them a bit; the Westin by the Galleria Houston might be somewhere you want to check out.

This Four Diamond hotel in Houston is the epitome of luxury. You can feel this from the minute you enter the lobby, with contemporary artwork, modern decor, and grand stairways.

The staff are incredibly professional and know what they’re talking about. They can guide you to anywhere you want to go in the city and are on hand 24 hours a day should you need assistance.

The dining room and lounge/bar area are in keeping with the rest of the hotel. This is the perfect spot to rest your weary legs after a long day, especially if you’ve spent the day hiking or exploring the city. It provides comfort, convenience, cleanliness, and round-the-clock service.

There is an excellent selection for breakfast, with options such as waffles, muffins, bacon, fresh fruit, and yogurt.

I would say this is quite a basic hotel, especially compared with some other hotels that allow pets in Houston. However, for the low cost, I wasn’t expecting all the heirs and graces that some of the higher-end joints offer. Instead, I was looking for somewhere peaceful, plush, and pleasant, and that’s exactly precisely what I got.

If you’re taking your dog, there are plenty of spots for walking nearby, such as Vintage Park. If you’re looking for indoor activities, there is a cinema and a place for glass making and painting nearby. I would also recommend visiting the BRIX wine cellars if this is something that interests you.

One slight downside that may put some people off staying here is the fact that it’s located quite close to the road, so that that noise might be irritating. However, they provide earplugs in the rooms, which work wonders, so you should still get a great night’s sleep; I know I did!

Facilities: Parking, electric car charging, lift safe deposit box, multi-lingual, fitness center, air conditioning, heating, pet bowls, shuttle service, CCTV, Wi-Fi.

Located in the heart of Houston, this pet-friendly hotel has a lot to offer regarding facilities, including air-conditioned rooms and a refined dining restaurant serving some excellent dishes from a Michelin-star chef.

The meals can be enjoyed in the eloquent dining lounge or in the comfort of your room.

The room rates begin at $189.00 per night to stay in one of their tranquil rooms, just outside the city center’s hustle and bustle. So it’s not the cheapest of places to stay, but you certainly get what you pay for regarding service and amenities.

Their pet-friendly rooms are just as well looked after as the rest of the hotel. They include luxury bath amenities, marble bathrooms, flatscreen TVs, and a Dyson hair dryer.

They have a state-of-the-art fitness suite, where you can take advantage of the Pelton equipment, spa luxury spa treatments, and a generously-sized, heated swimming pool.

One thing I liked the most about this hotel was their last check-out time of 12:30; they were also kind enough to store my luggage for the rest of the afternoon so that I didn’t have to lug it around town.

Situated on East Sam Houston Parkway and not too far from Downtown Houston, this contemporary hotel has excellent access to all the popular tourist spots and local stores.

Some popular attractions nearby that people flock to here are the Johnson Space Center and Buffalo Bayou Park.

The pet-friendly hotel provides you with everything you will need for your and your furry friends.

You can opt to include breakfast in your booking, but I observed that they don’t appear to replenish the food later in the morning, so if you want the best selection, set your alarm and get down there early.

They also serve breakfast at 5:00 am, so great if you’re an early riser.

I found the staff working here extremely friendly and attentive, despite reading some contradicting reviews before my stay, and the rooms were immaculate and well-maintained.

They have a lovely indoor swimming pool, a newly fitted gym, and an outdoor BBQ area should you feel like dining alfresco.

The prices per night were extremely reasonable, starting at around $100. Of course, this does vary depending on the room you stay in and the time of your visit.

Facilities: Minibars, city views, pool views, gym and wellness center, table tennis, valet parking, blackout curtains, balcony rooms, and deluxe suites.

Hotel ZaZa is a popular choice for tourists and people staying in Houston for business. Located in the trendy shopping district of Memorial City. This makes it a hotspot for anyone wanting to explore the impressive mall.

Aside from the fantastic and convenient location, the hotel is something you’ll want to write home about, and likely somewhere you will want to return to.

The service and the staff are excellent, and you’re made to feel welcome and well looked after from the minute you set foot in the door.

The hotel itself is incredible and a sight to behold, with some fantastic artwork on display and other sculptures and artifacts that give the place a historic feel, even though everywhere is decorated modernly.

The restaurant serves up some fantastic food for dinner and breakfast, starting at 6:30 am, seven days a week. You can choose from farm-fresh fruits, an all-American breakfast, a chorizo omelet, and breakfast tacos on the menu.

I would also highly recommend chilling out by the pool and taking advantage of the poolside menu.

You can get snacks and small plates such as volcano salt, garlic fries, Caesar salad, club sandwich, pepperoni pizza, or sesame-crusted ahi tuna.

The prices per night here may be entirely out of some people’s budget, especially if you’re looking for a short and convenient break with your pup.

Still, if you’re happy to splash the cash, you can expect to pay around $250 per night.

Telephone:713-963-0700

Facilities: Fireplaces, bicycle rentals, swimming pool, kids stay free, fitness center, business center, jacuzzi, dry cleaning service, vending machines, wake-up service, free parking

With over 150 locations around the United States, Drury Hotel is one of the most popular hotels in travel, business, and tourism.

These hotels are on the budget side of things when it comes to pricing, but this is not budget when it comes to service and quality.

The first Drury hotel was established in 1973, so they have plenty of experience in the hospitality game, which shows the level of service you receive during your stay. Everyone is highly attentive, and the staff couldn’t do enough for you.

The rooms are spotless, and you wouldn’t ever guess that it was a pet-friendly hotel judging by the cleanliness of the rooms.

There is an extra cleaning charge if you’re taking your pet with you, so bear this in mind when you make your booking, and be sure to give them a heads-up before you arrive.

This Houston location could do a bit of an update regarding the decor. I noticed that things looked a little bit outdated, but that didn’t take away from my experience.

The hotel is situated quite close to the highway, so if you’re a light sleeper like me, it can be a bit of a disturbance, but don’t worry; just give them a call when you book your room and request a room on the other side of the hotel, it shouldn’t be a problem.

There is breakfast served daily, between 7:00 am and 10:00 am, and they have offerings such as sausage patties, build-your-own waffles, fresh fruit, pastries, bagels, and boiled eggs. I found the food to be of average quality, I wouldn’t say anything stood out as exceptional, but it’s all okay and enough to set you up for the day.

They also have food available in the evenings after 5:30 pm, which isn’t like fine dining. Still, it will do the trick if you want a quick bite before settling in for the night. There isn’t a massive choice, but you can get sliders, hot dogs, nachos, meatballs, grilled chicken, alfredo pasta, and baked potatoes.

Just a ten-minute drive from Citycenter Plaza, this modern and trendy hotel is a classy spot offering private parking, superb dining, and high-quality accommodation.

Because of its sleek style and clean-cut image, it’s popular with business people and couples looking for an elegant night away.

The rooms are incredibly comfortable, air-conditioned, and cleaned to a very high standard. Each consists of a safe deposit box, a flatscreen TV, and a private bathroom with a shower. The room I stayed in was a standard double room.

It was spacious and had everything I could need for a short break.

The hotel has a well-maintained and heated indoor swimming pool, and there is a state-of-the-art gym and fitness center with everything you need for a decent workout.

The rooms are over $200 per night, and for your four-legged friend, be ready to pay an extra $75.00 on top, which is non-refundable.

The breakfast is probably one of the best I tried while looking at pet-friendly hotels in Houston. There was pretty much everything you could imagine choosing from, and it was included in all the room rates. I highly recommend trying out the omelet station, too.

Facilities: Cable, radio, microwave, vending machines, unrestrained pets, express check-in/out, air conditioning.

If you’re not looking for any heirs and graces, this motel will be the perfect stay for you and your pet.

Firstly, they don’t charge any extra for your pets to stay, which was my biggest bonus.

The accommodation is just 20 miles outside Houston city center and all the main attractions, including the nature center, Memorial Park, Houston Arboretum, and Waterwall Park.

All the rooms include a flat-screen TV, bathroom, microwave, and all the essential amenities you need for your stay.

There is free coffee available in the lobby. Still, no breakfast included; if you do want a bite to eat, though, Vintage Park is right nearby, and there are also restaurants within a 15-minute walk, such as Los Caporales, Willies Grill & Ice House, and Redfish Seafood Grill.

The price of the rooms for the night starts at $63.00, which I think is great considering you have everything you need. You’re in an excellent location, and the rooms are well-maintained and clean.

This modern B&B in the heart of Houston is a great little spot for a getaway with your pet. Inside, the accommodation has everything you need to make you feel at home, with a cozy fireplace, living area, kitchen facilities, dining area, and comfy beds.

I found the whole feel of this place to be warm and welcoming, and I would return.

It was nice to head back too at the end of a long day, where you can relax in your private space and have a nice night in front of the television.

There is a gourmet breakfast available at the property, or you can opt to make your own. There are also plenty of eateries nearby. The owner was happy to give me her recommendations for all the best places.

There are loads to do on the doorstep, such as Houston Zoo, The Health Museum, Holocaust Museum, and the Cockrell Butterfly Center, which are less than 2 miles away, so they are within walking distance.

The prices of the rooms start from $185, and there are sometimes extra charges for pets, but that’s dependent on your personal circumstances, so be sure to give the owner a call before you book to discuss your requirements.
