The Best Hair Braiding Shops in Houston
I know from experience how devastating it is to have a terrible experience at a hair salon. Finding another salon to correct it can be a pain. When you’re paying a lot of money (and sacrificing a lot of time) to get your hair braided, you need to know that you can trust the salon to do it right.
I’ll give you a rundown of some of Houston’s best but most reasonably priced salons. Of course, prices can vary, but these salons are known for offering top-quality braids and natural hair care for a reasonable price.
I’ll give you the lowdown on the key features, then go into more detail about the type of braids they offer, the pricing, and other services you can find there.
In no particular order, here are 8 of my favorites!
1. Bibi Hair Braiding
|Address||2575 Dairy Ashford Dr Ste F Houston, TX 77077|
|Services||Clip-in, fusion, and tape-in hair extension application, hair extension removal, many types of braids and weaves|
Bibi Hair Braiding Shop is a popular place to go in Houston for affordable hair braiding, and it’s easy to see why. Bibi is incredible at braiding, and she offers a wide range: and these are crochet braids, Havana twists, micro and box braids, French braids, cornrows, fish braids, Senegalese twists, kinky twists, bobs, tree braids, faux locs, Goddess braids, and weaves. She even takes special requests if you have a particular idea in mind.
The pricing is affordable, especially given the intricate braiding that Bibi can do. In addition, the customer service is excellent, and Bibi is good at striking up a relationship with her clients.
You can also have hair extensions put in here, including clip-in, fusion, and tape-in hair extensions, as well as hair extension removal.

2. Liz’s Braiding House
|Address||10920 Will Clayton Pkwy Humble, TX 77396|
|Services||Braiding, hair extensions, kids braids, locs, men's braids, natural hair care|
Liz’s Braiding House is another place I’d recommend going for high-quality braids at reasonable prices. Liz offers a huge array of braids, including feed-in braids, knotless, crochet, Fulani braids, and freestyle braids. She does braiding for kids, too. Liz is great with kids, and she offers great customer service.
The pricing is pretty good, from $60 for a kids crochet braid to $150 for a Fulani braid. Timing starts from around an hour to an hour and a half.
She offers sew-in hair extensions, men’s hair care, and natural hair care, including a silk twist or a 2-strand twist.
3. Amaka’s Daughter Braiding Salon
|Address||4800 West 34th St Ste C50 Houston, TX 77092|
|Services||Braiding, locs, twists|
Amaka’s Daughter is a popular salon. They offer ZK braids, box braids, knotless braids, soft locs, hand-wrapped faux locs, passion twists, and custom services by arrangement. The staff is gentle but precise, so you can sit back and relax in the chair without having to worry about pain.
The pricing is, I’d say, a little higher than some of the others on this list. However, customers absolutely love the service, and the braiding is incredibly intricate, so it may be worth investing a little more for this.
They also offer services for kids. They’re helpful and friendly and will give you hair care tips for both before and after your braids.
4. Neat Pretty Braids
|Address||13711 Westheimer Rd Ste C Houston, TX 77077|
|Services||Various types of braiding|
Neat Pretty Braids has a self-explanatory name! You can choose from a wide range of braids here, including tribal braids, knotless braids, Jazz Goddess braids, spring twists, locs, cornrows, feed-in braids, lemonade braids, and more. They do some excellent work here, their braids are neat, and they do fairly gentle work.
The pricing is pretty good. Longer hair, of course, will cost more. For example, long Goddess braids cost $320, but that’s for about 7 hours of work. You may have more than one person working on your braids at a time, and the results are neat and long-lasting. Shorter hair costs around $200 for knotless braids.
They also offer braiding for teens and kids, too, with some great prices.

5. The Natural Shoppe
|Address||2200 Edwards St Ste 404 Houston, TX 77007|
|Services||Unicorn braids, regular braids, natural hair care, protective hair care|
The Natural Shoppe is a relaxing, calming environment. I’d recommend coming here if you want some expertise on how to care for your hair, as well as beautiful braids. You can get unicorn braids (beautiful bright braids in multiple colors), knotless braids, feed-in braids, custom styles, and some pretty twists.
The pricing is great, considering what you get. You’ll get an introductory detangle, shampoo, blow dry, hair styling, and free wifi with complimentary snacks and drinks. Prices start from $140 for feed-in braids and go up to $900 for The Wheel unicorn braids, which include 21 colors, and the coloring work continues for two consecutive days.
They offer excellent hair care here, too, including deep conditioning treatments. I’d recommend the Release and Reset treatment, which includes detangling, shampooing, deep conditioning, trimming, and a simple style if needed.
6. Knotty Xpressions
|Address||18301 Egret Bay Blvd B Ste 17 Webster, TX 77058|
|Services||Braiding, locs, kids braiding|
I’d recommend visiting Knotty Xpressions. The braid artists, Simone and Jyresha, have years of experience between them. They offer excellent maintenance braids, including the Knotty Twist-Out and the Signature Flat Twist Updo (lasting over 2 weeks) and more complex braids like Box Braids and Two-Strand Twists (lasting up to 2 months). The braids are neat and protective, and the braid artists are gentle.
They are known for having some of the most reasonable pricing in Houston for protective braids. The downside is that they are often full to capacity, so you may have to go on the waitlist!
They also offer services for kids, including added colorful beads at $5 (or you can bring your own).
7. Glam Braids
|Address||15507 Evergreen Grove Dr Houston, TX 77083|
|Services||Braiding, natural hair styling|
Glam Braids is another good option if you prefer to go to a smaller salon. The owner, Titi, is welcoming and informative, and she’ll give you some great suggestions for your hair. She can do dreadlocks, dreadlock extensions, lace front wigs, crochet weaving, box braids, individual braids, micro braids, cornrows, kinky twists, fluffy twists, and more.
The pricing is known for being reasonable by Houston standards, with pricing on request.
She can also do braiding for kids and she’s very gentle, so you won’t have to worry about your child’s head hurting too much afterward.
8. Diva Braids
|Address||10926 FM 1960 W Houston, TX 77070|
|Services||Braiding, natural hair styling|
Diva Braids is another good salon to check out. With a busy but welcoming atmosphere, they offer many types of braids, including box braids, Goddess locks, crochet weaving, kinky twists, Nubian twists, and kids braiding. They’re gentle, but the braids are designed to last, and they do a very neat and tidy job.
Pricing is known to be pretty good, even for longer hair appointments. You have to pay a $20 deposit for an appointment.
They also offer braiding for kids, and they’ll give you suggestions based on your own hair length and texture.
9. De’Tresse Natural Hair Salon
|Address||12001 Richmond Ave Ste 7 Houston, TX 77082|
|Services||Braiding, natural hair styling, extensions, coloring|
De’Tresse Natural Hair Salon has a base of dedicated, loyal clients. The owner, Roz, has over 15 years of experience, and the whole team is dedicated to working with your natural hair. They offer locs, braided updos, Pygmy twists and coils, and more.
The pricing is pretty good. You can get feed-in braids for $125, but longer hairstyles, like medium-length box braids, start at $385.
I would also recommend De’Tresse for hair care services, including deep conditioning treatments. They also offer braiding for kids and even personalized loose hair tutorials.
