9 Best Hotels With Gym And Fitness Centers in Houston, TX

Although being on vacation should be all about relaxing, and having a change from your daily routine, sometimes you don’t want to let yourself go entirely by skipping out on your workout routine.

I wouldn’t say I like to work out every day while I’m exploring a new destination, but it’s nice to have the option to visit a fitness center once or twice during my stay.

This made me look for the best hotels with fitness centers in Houston.

9 Hotels in Houston With a Gym And Fitness Center

Being a bit of a fitness fanatic, staying at hotels in Houston with gyms is something I do regularly, especially seeing as Houston has become like a second home to me by this point.

This is why I thought it would be beneficial to put together this informative guide, which not only tells you about the fitness centers in each hotel but everything else they offer in terms of services and amenities.

Firstly I have given you an insight into how much you can expect to spend on your room per night and whether this price includes breakfast or a shuttle service. However, remember this price is only an estimate from my findings at the time of writing this guide. Costs will vary depending on the time of year, room choice, and other factors.

Other things I have noted are spa facilities, dining options, and nearby attractions so that you can make the most of your trip to Houston.

So, let’s talk more about the best hotels in Houston with fitness centers.

1. Hotel ICON, Autograph Collection

The first hotel that springs to mind when contemplating a hotel with a spa in Houston to spend my vacation is, without a doubt, Hotel ICON. One of the reasons for this is that I am always totally blown away by the grandeur of the lobby and communal areas because they are all studded with glamorous chandeliers, fine furniture, and classy decor. You immediately feel surrounded by luxury from the minute you arrive.

The splendor doesn’t stop there, either. There is so much I could say that I love about this hotel that I’d be here all day, so I’ll keep it on a need-to-know basis, starting with the rooms.

The suites and bedrooms are newly decorated, clean, and modern, with plenty of classical touches giving them a lavish yet cozy ambiance. The perfect abode to return to for a good night’s rest after a day at the spa. You can even continue the pamper session back in your room with your personal whirlpool bath.

Nearby there are plenty of restaurants if you want to venture out for dinner one evening. I can personally recommend the Flying Saucer for some classic American dishes, and it’s just a three-minute walk from the hotel.

Other amenities at the hotel aren’t quite as plentiful as some other hotels I’ve stayed at in Houston. However, it’s certainly not lacking. There’s an on-site gym with all the mod-cons you could wish for, a business center for those traveling for work, and a rooftop terrace offering great views of the city.

Price Per night$243.00

Houston’s Omni Hotel sits just six miles from Downtown Houston, so I always find it a perfect location to stay for a weekend when I want to spend time a bit further outside of the city center. I often opt to stay here when I’m planning to catch a show due to its proximity to the theater district.

If you’re a bit of a party animal, you’ll likely opt for this hotel because downstairs, there is an on-site nightclub called the Black Swan, which can be a little off-putting for guests who like an early night. However, I can assure you that once you’re back in your room, the noise isn’t that bad; perhaps pack a set of earbuds if you’re a light sleeper.

The last time I visited this hotel was for just one night for a friend’s wedding, and what they did with the reception room was amazing. The staff went above and beyond for all the guests and left a lasting impression on our party. If you’re looking for an excellent wedding venue, I’d recommend getting this on your list.

The fitness center is a great attribute and has everything you need for cardio and strength training to keep on top of your routine.

3. Ramada by Wyndham Houston Intercontinental Airport South

As I said earlier, I’ve tried to include hotels in Houston with spas that will suit every budget. This brings me to the Ramada by Wyndham, conveniently located less than ten minutes drive from Houston’s primary airport, George Bush Intercontinental. So, if you love luxury but aren’t a fan of commuting, this is the ideal spot after a long-haul flight.

Okay, so this hotel might not offer quite the same standard of luxury as some of the others I’ve discussed. However, for the price, I think you get a great deal for your money. As you’ve probably guessed, for $60.00 per night, you aren’t getting any lavish spa treatments or the most up-to-date gym equipment. However, what they do have is a fitness center, or more so, a workout room and a relaxing swimming pool.

They also offer some convenient services, such as a free shuttle, express check-in, an ironing service, and free airport transportation. There is also a 24-hour reception service which means there is someone on hand around the clock to assist you with anything you need.

4. Quality Inn and Suites NRG Park – Medical Center

Sticking with the theme of budget hotels, I thought the Quality Inn & Suites at NRG Medical Park was also worth mentioning, mainly because of the value for money.

Surrounded by around 40 of Houston’s most popular restaurants and many famous attractions, the location makes this a desirable spot to stay when visiting the city. Suppose you’re planning to catch a rodeo while in town, which I recommend you do if you want a true Texan experience, you’re ideally situated, with this hotel just a ten-minute walk away.

Alright, so the reviews might not shout about a luxurious experience. Still, as long as you’re not in the market for exclusive, lavish-added extras and understand this is all about the bargain, you won’t be disappointed.

The gym is small but has enough to keep you going, with elliptical equipment, running machines, and a couple of other fixed pieces you can use. You may have to get imaginative if you’re looking for a hardcore workout.

So I’ve talked about the elaborate and the budget, so now it’s time to take a look at one of my favorite hotels, which falls somewhere between the two.

This hotel is set within a listed building that is now on the National Historic Places Register, which is what first piqued my interest in the first place. Old buildings, architecture, and history, in general, fascinate me, so I couldn’t wait to sleep over in a 100-year-old hotel; the geek in me was hoping for a haunted experience, but unfortunately, not.

Although I may not have come across any ghouls in the hallways, what I did find was a magnificent building that has clearly undergone some recent renovations to get it to the stylish, impressive standard it’s at today.

As well as the gorgeous rooms and beautiful dining area, even the lobby alone makes you feel as though you’re on the set of a movie.

Regarding gym facilities, I would say it’s perfectly adequate for the kind of workout I look for when on vacation; however, the room is tiny. There are only a couple of pieces of equipment to use. Thankfully, every time I’ve been, it’s been almost empty, but if there were more than two or three people in there, the equipment could get a little crowded.

The Westin Downtown Houston tends to be popular with anyone wanting to catch a game while enjoying a relaxing weekend at the same time, as this upmarket, stylish hotel is located just over the street from Minute Maid Park.

One aspect that surprised me, which I didn’t learn until recently, was that this hotel is pet-friendly. It is great news for me as we often take our dog everywhere we go, and on first impressions, it doesn’t strike me as a pet-friendly hotel.

The hotel offers much more, including excellent service, plenty of amenities, and fine dining in their restaurant, where you can try fabulous dishes and delicious pastries for breakfast.

The rooms consist of lots of lovely little touches, such as complimentary toiletries and a fabulous spa shower which you won’t want to get out of.

The basement gym is handy, with cardio equipment such as treadmills and some bits for weight lifting such as free weights and kettlebells.

I’ve never stayed at this Wyndham hotel, at least not yet. But I do know many people who have done, and I’ve only ever heard great things. When I then learned it was only $80.00 per night, I decided I must make the time to visit during my next trip to Houston.

From what I’ve been told, this is one of the best hotels in Houston regarding service, cleanliness, and housekeeping. I also believe it’s been recently refurbished, meaning everything is new and up-to-date with all the mod cons.

Another thing I’ve heard repeatedly is how hard-working and friendly the staff are, which is always a selling point when staying over in a new city.

The hotel is conveniently located close to Hobby Airport, just one mile away. The hotel will have someone personally come and collect you after you land, take you to the hotel, and see that you’re checked in.

Regarding the gym and fitness center, I believe it only consisted of a couple of treadmills in the laundry room. However, I recently heard that they had undergone a bit of a refurb in this department, so this could have improved by now.

Who doesn’t like a bit of sophistication when they’re away from home? I know I sure do. The Royal Sonesta Houston definitely offers plenty of it, which shows in the fact that it is the only AAA Four Diamond Hotel in the city.

The staff here is welcoming, and the ambiance is relaxed and homely despite its immense size with almost 500 rooms.

Whether you’re traveling for work or pleasure, the Royal Sonesta staff will ensure that everything during your trip runs smoothly. They will take care of everything you need throughout your stay.

Out of the hotels with gyms I’ve stayed at in Houston, this is probably one of the best in terms of equipment and facilities. They provide more than enough to get your workout done. It’s also one of the cleanest and best-kept I’ve seen.

If you don’t want to sit down to a full breakfast in the morning, there is a convenient snack bar where you can purchase a continental breakfast to take away, which seems to be quite popular. However, personally, the only way to start the day on vacation is with a sit-down breakfast, especially after a morning spent in the gym.

Suppose your reason for being in Houston is to explore the most famous shopping center in the area, The Galleria. How do you feel about being able to step out of the front door and be there in under three minutes? A shopaholic’s dream, right?

Not only that, but if ice skating interests you, then you’ll find ice at the Galleria. It is a fabulous way to spend the afternoon, even if you’re like me and something of a Bambi on ice.

As far as the hotel goes, there isn’t much it’s lacking. While it might not have all the heirs and graces of the more luxurious hotels I’ve been to in Houston, it’s convenient, clean, and has all the amenities you’d expect. For example, a complimentary breakfast, 24-hour reception, hot tub, swimming pool, and sun loungers. There are also BBQ facilities if you fancy dining alfresco one evening.

The gym is handy and works for most. However, it is a little on the small side, so if a few guests use it at once, it can get a little crowded.

The breakfast buffet is out early, and there is a good spread to choose from; however, if you fancy eating in your room, you’re good too, as all the rooms are equipped with a kitchenette.

Overall this is a pleasant hotel, set within a quiet neighborhood, with friendly staff and a fabulous surrounding location.
