I have always been more than satisfied with the attentiveness and welcoming vibes I get from the staff here. It’s like nothing is ever too much trouble.

There is excellent access to public transport nearby, so getting out to see the rest of Houston is a piece of cake.

The hotel offers a complimentary breakfast with plenty of options, including fresh fruit and a fully cooked option.

The rooftop pool is a pleasant addition, and for me was a nice surprise as I didn’t even realize it was there for a while. I enjoyed a couple of evenings relaxing by the water with a cocktail in hand.

JW Marriott Houston Downtown always springs to mind when people ask me about the best hotels in Houston. Its contemporary style stands out from anywhere else I’ve ever stayed, making it exceptionally unique.

The style is extremely minimalistic regarding the interior. Yet, it still gives off vibes of artistic styles, such as the wall art in the lobby and the unusual furniture.

The dining room is stunning, almost gothic, while remaining in keeping with the rest of the modern interior, with black chairs, dark wooden floors, and grey pillars. To top off all that, it serves some fantastic food and a fabulous breakfast, including made-to-order omelets.

I would say this would suit everyone, especially couples looking for a romantic weekend or celebrating an anniversary. The staff at the hotel will ensure that your stay is one to remember.

Coming down slightly in price, and offering excellent value for money, is Club Quarters Hotel, Downtown Houston, which I happen to have stayed at recently, and enjoyed a fabulous stay.

What steered me towards this hotel initially was the fact that it was set within a historic building, and I’m a sucker for anything with a bit of history.

When I arrived at the hotel, I was unsure what to expect, as I hadn’t done much research beforehand. I always think it’s better to find out for myself. However, I was pleasantly surprised as soon as I set foot inside. The interior feels grand and historic while being new and brightly lit, and it felt like a highly upper-class hotel despite the relatively low price.

The rooms are lovely, the beds are comfortable, the food is out of this world, and the service is on point, so overall, there isn’t anything wrong I can say about this hotel. It might be one of my all-time favorites when I consider what you get for your money.

The metro light rail is close too, so you’re in a great location to explore the city.

Sometimes when traveling for short periods or on a purposeful visit, you’re not bothered about lavish hotels and extravagant amenities. Instead, you just want somewhere comfortable to get your head down for the night. If that’s what you’re here for, then the Athens Hotel Suites will be well suited.

Each of the 22 rooms is like your own personal little apartment, fitted with a kitchenette, a comfortable bed, and a private bathroom, and housekeeping is available throughout your stay.

I was a little dubious when I stayed at this place because I read some not-so-great reviews. However, either I got lucky on this occasion, or these bad reviews were based on people who had set their expectations a little too high. If you understand your booking budget, you shouldn’t be surprised to learn that you’re getting a budget service.

However, I think for the money, the service was ample for what I needed during my stay, I had the chance to cook my food, I had an excellent night’s sleep, and the location was great, close to the Toyota Center, which was ideal for me as I was in town to catch the NBA game on this occasion.

Overall, a peaceful, clean, and comfortable stay, offering convenience and inexpensive rooms.

8. Le Meridien Houston Downtown

Price Per night$205.00

Le Meridien Houston Downtown offers guests an authentic Southern experience with a hint of Mid-Century vibes. It is ideally situated for visiting some of Downtown Houston’s best aspects, such as the Toyota Center and Minute Maid Park.

The hotel is super welcoming and has a cozy feel about it, almost like a home-from-home in some ways. The rooms are clean, modern, and well-equipped with amenities such as blackout curtains, WiFi, a phone and radio, a sofa, a hair dryer, and a comfortable seating area.

The only downside I would say about this hotel is the fact that both times I’ve stayed here, I’ve had a problem with the water, once being no pressure, and another time running hot and cold. However, the staff was extremely accommodating and attentive on both of these occasions.

If you’re into sports and leisure activities, then you’ll always have something to keep you active, with racquetball, bicycle rental, and bowling all close to the hotel.

Kids stay free here too, which you’ll be glad to hear if you’re looking for somewhere for your next family vacation, and you can even bring along the dog if you desire, as it’s pet-friendly too. They even offer a babysitting service, music to your ears, right?

I have stayed at many Hyatt hotels in my time (as you’ve probably gathered, I travel a lot). I am always impressed by their service and ability to make any trip feel that little bit extra special.

If your reason for being in Houston is work, then by staying here, you’ll find yourself with everything you need and the perfect location right in the heart of Houston’s primary business district.

However, if you’re in town to catch a game, you’ll also be glad to hear that you’re within walking distance of the Toyota Center and Minute Maid Park, so you won’t need to worry about catching public transport to get to the game on time.

The rooms here offer a city view, daily housekeeping, and plenty of mod-cons and amenities, including a docking station, flatscreen TV, and a laptop safe.

There is plenty to choose from when it comes to dining places if you decide not to eat at the hotel. Nearby eateries include Shula’s Steak House, Spindletop, and Morton’s The Steakhouse. I recommend Spindletop for a rooftop dinner with a difference.

10. AC Hotel by Marriott Houston Downtown

AC Hotel by Marriott Houston Downtown
Address723 Main Street, Houston, TX 77002
Websitewww.marriott.com
Tel844-631-0595
Price Per night$125.00

I love the laid-back feel of the AC hotel by Marriott and its casual, homely, and authentic Texan vibe. The staff is friendly, the services are on point, and there is everything on offer that you would expect from any Marriott group hotel.

The hotel is extremely modern and in keeping with current requirements and tastes, such as having a Starbucks onsite and offering small plates of tapas-style dishes at their restaurants. This makes it a popular hotel with younger couples and anyone traveling for business. However, this hotel welcomes anyone, including families with children and pets.

There is plenty to do in the evening, close to nightclubs such as Nightly Spirits and attractions such as the Alley Theater and Houston Symphony.

The rooms are lovely, they have everything you need in the form of facilities, and there are plenty of little extras too, which I thought was a pleasant surprise.

The onsite restaurant is stunning, although it is pretty pricey, so if you’re looking for something to eat nearby that’s a little more budget-friendly, I recommend trying Frank’s Pizza for casual-style dining and tasty, low-priced food.
